Ladue formed in 1936 when three villages, LaDue, Deer Creek and McKnight, joined into one city. Its residential zoning calls for minimum lots from 10,000 square feet up to three acres, and on lots that size the driveways and patios cover a lot of ground. When that concrete settles, we lift it back with mudjacking.

Large lots, long runs of concrete and the Deer Creek watershed shape most of what we fix in Ladue.

On a lot of an acre or more, a driveway can run a long way from the road to the house. Each panel sits on its own patch of soil, so one section can sink while the rest stays put, leaving a bump at the joint.

Big back patios often sit partly on backfill next to the foundation. When that settles, the slab tips toward the house and holds water against it.

The walk from the driveway to the front door takes runoff from the roof and lawn. Over the years it settles at the joints and starts to catch toes.

Ladue sits in the Deer Creek watershed. Yards that drain toward the creek and its tributaries stay damp, and slabs there can lose support on the low side.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
We're part of Nick Gress Foundations and lift concrete throughout St. Louis and St. Charles counties. We'll tell you plainly whether your Ladue slab is a good candidate for lifting or needs to be replaced.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

Ladue falls on two Missouri Geological Survey maps, the Creve Coeur and Webster Groves quadrangles. Both show wind-blown silt (loess) over the uplands, about 100 feet thick at most on the Creve Coeur map, with limestone below that can be karstic where the silt is thin. The Webster Groves map adds clay-rich residuum on the steeper slopes.
The Deer Creek watershed covers about 37 square miles across 21 municipalities, Ladue among them. Ladue's zoning also caps parking spaces, driveways and walks at 30 percent of the front yard and keeps the rest as landscaping, so most slabs border lawn and planting beds that soak up rain and sprinkler water.
Silt and clay get soft when they stay wet, and soil under a slab can pack down or wash out. Mudjacking fills that space and raises the concrete, and good drainage around the slab helps it hold.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!

Yes. We only lift the panels that have dropped, so the rest of the driveway stays as it is. That keeps the job smaller than replacing the whole run.
Often, yes. We raise the low side so water runs out toward the yard again, as long as the patio is still in solid pieces.
No. We drill a few small holes, pump grout under the slab and patch the holes. The concrete you have stays in place, so there's no new slab that looks different from the rest.
