Mudjacking & Concrete Leveling in Creve Coeur, MO

Creve Coeur had about 2,000 residents when it incorporated in 1949 and almost 19,000 by 2020. It grew fastest after I-270 and Highway 40 were built. Concrete poured during those decades is now old enough to sink and crack at the joints. We raise it back up with mudjacking instead of tearing it out.

How mudjacking lifts a sunken driveway Animation: soil washes out under a driveway and the slab sinks below the garage floor. Small holes are drilled, grout is pumped in to fill the void and lift the slab, and the holes are patched with the slab back to level. Void Level again Soil washes out. The slab sinks. Concrete Problems We Fix Around Creve Coeur

Creve Coeur is mostly upland ground, with neighborhoods, office parks, medical buildings and the Olive Boulevard business strip. Here's what we get called out for most.

Concrete driveway slab sunken below the edge of a garage door

Garage aprons on older homes

The slab in front of the garage carries the most weight and sits on backfill next to the foundation. When that fill compacts, the apron drops and a ridge forms at the door that you bump over every day.

Sunken walkway panel next to a lawn

Front walks on sloped lots

Rain that runs off the yard toward the house follows the edge of the front walk. Over the years it carries silt out from under the panels, and they tip or step down at the joints.

Patio slab settled away from a brick wall

Patios over thin soil and limestone

In parts of the uplands the soil over the limestone is thin. A back patio there can lose support in one spot and settle unevenly, so water collects on it instead of draining off.

Sunken concrete walk at a storefront door

Commercial walks along Olive Boulevard

Offices, clinics and shops along the Olive corridor see heavy foot traffic. One sunken panel at a door or parking lot curb is a trip risk, and lifting it takes far less time than a tear-out.

Before & After: What Mudjacking Fixes

These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

How Mudjacking Works

Small drilled holes in a settled concrete walkway before mudjacking

1. Drill small holes

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

2. Pump and lift

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

3. Patch and clean up

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

Why Concrete Sinks in Creve Coeur

The Missouri Geological Survey's map of the Creve Coeur quadrangle shows the uplands here covered by wind-blown silt (loess) that can total about 100 feet. The lower layer, called the Roxana, holds more clay than the Peoria layer on top. Elevations on the map reach over 720 feet in the eastern uplands, and the survey marks karst in the upland areas, meaning sinkholes and caves in the limestone where the loess is thin.

Creve Coeur also sits within the Deer Creek watershed, which drains about 37 square miles of St. Louis County and is more than 80 percent urban land. With that much roof and pavement, a heavy rain sends a lot of water across yards and along slab edges in a short time.

Loess stands up well when it's dry, but it softens and erodes once water gets beneath a slab. Mudjacking fills the hollow with grout and raises the concrete, and moving downspouts away from the slab helps the fix hold.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!

    Creve Coeur Mudjacking FAQ

Who fixes the sidewalk in front of my Creve Coeur home?

For a public sidewalk, contact Creve Coeur Public Works at 314-872-2533. Your driveway, walks, steps and patio are yours, and those are the slabs we lift.

Is the city replacing concrete on my street?

Creve Coeur runs a yearly concrete replacement project. According to West Newsmagazine, the 2026 project covers concrete streets in several subdivisions and replaces about 60 percent of the sidewalks on Ambois Drive, including some driveway aprons. Check with the city about your street before you pay to fix an apron yourself.

Can you lift concrete at an office or medical building?

Yes. We lift walks, entries and parking area slabs for businesses. We'll go over timing with you so customers and patients can still get in.

Is mudjacking a good fit for older Creve Coeur driveways?

If the panels are still in big solid pieces, usually yes. Lifting keeps the concrete you already paid for. If a driveway is crumbling or broken into many small pieces, replacing it may be the better call, and we'll tell you.

Do you serve the areas around Creve Coeur?

Yes. We work in Maryland Heights, Chesterfield, Ladue, Frontenac, Clayton and the rest of St. Louis and St. Charles counties.
