Chesterfield has two kinds of ground: hillside subdivisions on deep wind-blown silt, and Chesterfield Valley on Missouri River floodplain. Both let concrete settle. We lift sunken driveways, walks, patios and steps with mudjacking, usually in a few hours.

What we see in Chesterfield depends a lot on which side of town you're on.

Many east-side homes in the 63017 area are 1970s and 80s brick ranches and split-levels on sloped lots. Runoff from higher ground works under driveways, and slabs settle and separate at the joints.

In neighborhoods like Bent Tree, Chesterfield Meadows and Wilson Manor, front walks and stoops have had decades to settle. They tip toward the house or drop at the porch.

Newer west-side subdivisions such as Fienup Farms and Wildhorse Village have patios poured over graded fill. As the fill compacts, patios tilt and hold water.

Chesterfield Valley sits on river bottom soil. Walks, entries and slabs at businesses there settle on the soft ground and create trip hazards.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
We work all over west St. Louis County, from the Valley to the hills. You'll get a free, straight answer on whether lifting will work.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

The Missouri Geological Survey's map of the Chesterfield area shows wind-blown silt (loess) up to about 140 feet thick on the uplands and Missouri River deposits 80 to 100 feet thick in the floodplain, where the water table sits just 5 to 15 feet down. The floodplain there is up to 3 miles wide, and the survey notes high-clay soil on slopes and at the foot of hills.
Chesterfield Valley, once called Gumbo Flats, flooded when the levee failed on July 30, 1993. Today it's protected by higher levees, but it's still river bottom ground. On the hillsides, loess is strong when dry but washes out fast when runoff gets under a slab.
Mudjacking fills the void under a settled slab and lifts it back toward level. On sloped lots, steering water away from slab edges helps the repair last.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!
Yes. Chesterfield says it maintains about 260 miles of public sidewalk, inspects it on a regular cycle and budgets each year for replacement. You can report a problem through the city. Private streets and your own driveway, walks, steps and patio aren't covered, and that's where we help.
Yes. We lift walks, entries and slabs for businesses and properties in the Valley. On soft river bottom soil, filling the voids under the slab is often the key to a lasting fix.
Runoff from higher ground runs along and under driveway edges, carrying away fine silt. A hollow forms, and the slab drops into it even though the concrete is still solid.
In most cases lifting costs less than tearing out and pouring new concrete. We'll give you a free estimate so you can compare.
