The typical Florissant home was built around 1960, and so was a lot of the concrete around it. After 60-plus years, driveways, walks, steps and patios have settled. We lift them back toward level with mudjacking, without tearing them out.

Florissant boomed after World War II, with about 18,000 homes built between 1947 and 1980. The concrete from that era is where most of our calls come from.

In neighborhoods like Walnut Grove Hills and Seven Hills, many driveways are original. Decades of settling leave slabs sunk at the garage or tipped toward the street.

Concrete stoops on ranch homes settle away from the house, leaving a gap at the door and a step that's higher or lower than it should be.

Homes near Coldwater Creek deal with wetter soil and flooding. Water running under slabs washes out support, and patios start to tilt.

Older garage floors often have a sunken section near the door, where water and freeze-thaw have worked under the slab the longest.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
Florissant's concrete is old enough that some of it should be replaced, and some just needs lifting. We'll tell you which is which, for free.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

Florissant sits on wind-blown silt (loess) uplands in north St. Louis County, with the Missouri River on its northwest edge. The Missouri Geological Survey describes the region's uplands as two layers of loess, and notes that the contact between them can act as a slip plane on steeper ground. Where homes were built, much of the soil was cut and filled; the Harvester soil series, which describes that kind of graded urban soil, was first mapped in St. Louis County.
The city's own long-range plan calls Coldwater Creek Florissant's major geographic feature and lists reducing flood impacts as a priority. Wet soil near the creek softens and washes out, and that's when slabs drop.
Mudjacking fills the voids under a settled slab and lifts it back toward level. For slabs near the creek, we also recommend steering downspouts and runoff away from the edges.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!
Florissant runs a Residential Sidewalk Trip Hazard Removal Program. The city says there's no charge to homeowners, and slabs qualify at a minimum of 1 inch of vertical difference. Requests go to Public Works, usually by April 30, with repairs later in the year. See the city's sidewalk program page. Your driveway, walks, steps and patio aren't covered, and that's where we can help.
Not necessarily. Age matters less than condition. If the slab is in one piece without heavy cracking, we can usually lift it. If it's broken up, replacement may make more sense, and we'll say so.
Soil near the creek stays wetter and floods more often. Water under a slab carries away fine silt and softens what's left, so the concrete loses support and settles.
Often, yes. If the stoop is solid and still in one piece, we can lift it back toward the house and close the gap.
