Wentzville went from about 29,000 people in 2010 to more than 44,000 in 2020, so a lot of its concrete was poured over freshly graded clay. When that clay shrinks, swells and settles, driveways, walks and patios drop. We lift the slab you already have with mudjacking, usually in a few hours.

Wentzville sits on heavy glacial clay, and most of the problems we see start with that clay drying out, getting wet again and settling under new construction.

The city's own 2026 street slab replacement list picks slabs for cracking and settling in subdivisions like Cimarron, Stonemoor, Peine Lake Estates and Boulder Ridge. Private driveways in the same neighborhoods sit on the same soil and settle the same way.

Backfill along the foundation keeps settling after the house is finished. The driveway panel next to the garage drops and leaves a step at the door that catches tires and toes.

On clay that shrinks in dry summers and swells in wet springs, patios rarely settle evenly. Once one edge drops, rain runs back toward the foundation instead of into the yard.

Front walks poured over loose fill tend to step down where they meet the stoop. That gap lets water get underneath and makes the problem grow.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
We're a St. Charles County company, part of Nick Gress Foundations, so Wentzville jobs are close to home. We'll tell you straight if a slab can be lifted or if it needs to be replaced.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

The Missouri Geological Survey's map of the Wentzville area shows glacial till over 100 feet thick in places, and notes that these tills commonly have high clay content. The map says the shrink-swell of those clays is one reason many newer developments here dig out and replace soil under foundations. It also shows creek deposits up to 40 feet thick along Peruque Creek near I-70, and man-made fill up to 40 feet deep where land was leveled.
The city's own soil map lists series like Mexico silt loam, which the USDA describes as poorly drained with a clay layer of 40 to 60 percent clay and very slow permeability. Water sits on that layer instead of soaking through, so the soil under a slab swings between soaked and dry.
Driveways and walks don't get the dig-out that foundations do, so they're usually the first thing to move. Mudjacking fills the void under the slab and lifts it back toward level, and keeping downspouts away from the slab helps it stay there.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!

Much of Wentzville is built on clay-rich glacial till that shrinks when it dries and swells when it gets wet. Add backfill around new foundations and graded lots, and the support under a slab can shift for years after the house is built.
Usually, yes. If the slab is still in one piece, we pump grout under it to fill the void and raise it back toward the garage floor. Badly broken slabs may need replacement, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
Most driveway and walkway jobs are done in a few hours. We'll let you know when it's ready for foot traffic and when to drive on it.
