O'Fallon grew from about 18,700 people in 1990 to more than 91,000 in 2020, and most of its homes sit on lots that were graded and filled for new subdivisions. When that soil settles, driveways, walks and patios drop with it. We lift the slab you already have with mudjacking, usually in a few hours.

Most of what we see in O'Fallon comes from soil that was moved around when the neighborhoods were built, plus water from the creeks and downspouts that keeps working on it.

In subdivisions built from the late 1990s on, like WingHaven, Fieldstone Farms and Streets of Caledonia, the soil next to the foundation was backfilled. As it settles, the driveway panel at the garage sinks and leaves a lip at the door.

Front walks and stoops poured over backfill tend to tip toward the house or step down where they meet the porch. That gap lets water in and makes a trip edge at the entry.

Back patios on graded lots often sit on fill that was never packed well. Once they settle, rain pools on the slab or runs back toward the foundation instead of away from it.

The city handles most public sidewalk repairs in O'Fallon, but the sections through or next to your driveway are the owner's job. A sunken panel there is one of the most common calls we get.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
We're a St. Charles County company, part of Nick Gress Foundations, so O'Fallon jobs are close to home. We'll tell you straight if a slab can be lifted or if it's too far gone.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

O'Fallon sits on the loess uplands north of the Missouri River. The Missouri Geological Survey's map of the O'Fallon area shows wind-blown silt (loess) up to about 70 feet thick, clayey glacial till 10 to 25 feet thick in the western part, and silty creek deposits up to about 130 feet thick along Dardenne Creek, where the water table is only 5 to 15 feet down. The same map shows man-made fill up to 40 feet deep where land was leveled.
Loess holds up well when it's dry and packed, but it compacts and washes out when water gets under it. The till clays to the west shrink and swell with moisture, which is why newer developments here often dig out and replace soil under foundations. Driveways and walks don't get that treatment, so they're the first thing to move.
Mudjacking fills the hollow that forms under the slab and lifts the concrete back toward level. Pairing it with longer downspout extensions keeps the water from carving out a new void.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!
According to the City of O'Fallon, the city is generally responsible for repairing sidewalks along city right-of-way, with exceptions that include sidewalks through or next to driveways and private entrances. Driveways themselves are the owner's responsibility. You can report a public sidewalk problem to the city's Streets Division at 636-379-3807. For your driveway, walks, steps and patio, give us a call.
Much of O'Fallon was built on graded loess and fill. Backfill next to foundations and fill on leveled lots keeps settling for years, and water from roofs and slopes washes fine silt out from under slabs. The concrete stays in one piece, but the support underneath disappears.
Usually, yes. If the slab is still in one piece, we pump grout under it to fill the void and raise it back toward the garage floor, which takes out the lip at the door. Badly broken slabs may need replacement, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
Most O'Fallon driveway and walkway jobs are done in a few hours. We'll let you know when it's ready for foot traffic and when to drive on it, based on the job.
