St. Peters went from a few hundred residents in 1970 to more than 50,000 by 2000, and a lot of its concrete was poured fast on soft, creek-side ground. We lift sunken driveways, walks, patios and steps with mudjacking, without tearing them out.

Many St. Peters neighborhoods sit near Spencer, Dardenne and Plum creeks, and that water is behind a lot of the settling we see.

In neighborhoods like Hi Point, Braewood and Steeplechase, driveways poured during the building boom are now 30 or more years old. As the soil under them settles, slabs drop at the garage and joints open up.

Homes close to Spencer Creek and Dardenne Creek often have patios on soft, wet soil. After heavy rain, slabs settle and start holding water or draining toward the house.

Walks and stoops poured over backfill next to the foundation tend to tip toward the house. The gap at the step lets water get under the porch and the house.

Garage floor sections and aprons settle over voids, leaving a lip at the door that catches tires and toes.
These are the kinds of slabs we lift every week across St. Louis and St. Charles counties. The slab stays in place; we raise it and fill the empty space underneath.

A quick look at how lifting works on real slabs. The grout goes in through small holes, fills the empty space underneath, and raises the concrete back toward level.
We're local to St. Charles County, part of Nick Gress Foundations. We focus on your driveway, walks, steps and patio, and we'll tell you honestly what lifting can and can't fix.

We drill a few small holes through the settled slab to reach the empty or soft spots underneath.

A cement-based grout is pumped under the slab. It fills the voids first, then slowly raises the concrete back toward level.

Once the slab is where it should be, we patch the holes and clean up. Most jobs are finished the same day.

The City of St. Peters' own planning documents note that a large amount of floodplain sits within the city along Spencer, Dardenne, Plum and Baltic creeks, and that the north end of town is within the 100-year floodplain. The city's pavement program also notes that streets built before 1998 were laid directly on compacted native soil, under less-than-ideal subgrade conditions.
The ground here is mostly wind-blown silt (loess) on the higher ground and silty creek deposits in the low areas. Both lose support when water runs under a slab. Fine silt gets carried away, a hollow forms, and the concrete drops even though it's still in one piece.
Mudjacking fills that hollow and lifts the slab back toward level. Extending downspouts and keeping water off slab edges helps keep new voids from forming.

Nick and his family turned my highly uneven, and very large, concrete driveway and pad into an almost perfectly level sheet. It was amazing to see. Nick and his family were awesome to work with, the price was fair, and the results were amazing. I highly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

Nick and his team were extremely punctual, hard working and completed the task on time. We had almost fifty feet of foundation cracks repaired as well as the driveway mudjacked. Would highly recommend for future work.Posted on Google![]()

I wrote a bad review earlier about bad communication. His family was very ill that is why he was slow to get back to me. I ended up hiring them for a large driveway leveling job and it turned out great. Great quality and great pricing. I have referred St. Louis Mud Jacking multiple times since my project and I will continue to use them on my properties. I wish there was a way to remove my old review but I wasn't able to. Great company!!!!
Yes, for public sidewalk. St. Peters says it inspects its roughly 95 miles of public sidewalk every year and repairs defects such as an edge of three-quarters of an inch or more through its Sidewalk Maintenance and Infill Program. Report a public sidewalk problem to the city. Your own driveway, walks, steps and patio are yours to fix, and that's where we come in.
Creek-side soil stays wetter and softer, and floods and heavy rain wash fine silt out from under slabs. Once that support is gone, the slab settles.
Often, yes. We can lift the low side so water runs away from the house again, as long as the slab is still in one piece.
Most driveway, walkway and patio jobs are done in a few hours. We'll tell you when you can walk and drive on it.
Yes. We work across St. Charles County, including St. Charles, O'Fallon and Cottleville, plus St. Louis County.
